Participants will learn healthy coping skills, explore peer and organizational support options, and gain tools to promote long-term wellness in both their professional and personal lives.

Balance, Boundaries, and Bravery is a course developed to address the unique challenges of supervisors, though non-supervisors can also benefit from its content. Self-Care, Resilience, and Post Traumatic Growth

Self-Care, Resilience, and Post Traumatic Growth provides firefighters and EMS personnel with practical tools to manage the impact of critical incidents, the death of a member, and cumulative stress. This training explores common reactions to trauma, strategies for self-care, and ways to build resilience both individually and as part of a team. Participants will leave with skills to support recovery, strengthen mental health, and sustain long-term wellness in the fire and emergency service profession.

Relational Health for Firefighters

Relational Health for Firefighters and EMS Personnel focuses on strengthening interpersonal and family relationships at home and beyond the workplace. The program addresses the unique challenges of first responder life, including shift work, repeated exposure to trauma, and occupational stress, and offers practical strategies for communication, boundary-setting, and building supportive and meaningful emotional connections. Participants will learn tools to enhance relational health, and foster stronger, more balanced personal relationships.

Continuing Education for Peer Support Team Members*

Providing Peer Support After A Potentially Traumatic Event

Providing Peer Support After A Potentially Traumatic Event provides useful information for peer support team members when supporting others who have been exposed to potentially traumatic events. Effects of psychological trauma on the brain are reviewed, and the concept of crisis and signs and symptoms of stress disorders are discussed. This course also teaches post-incident protocols developed by the IAFF and includes role play scenarios.

Advanced Active Listening Skills for Peer Support Team Members

Advanced Active Listening Skills for Peer Support Team Members is a course designed for existing peer support trained members. This program reviews and strengthens therapeutic communication skills essential for peer support and crisis management. The program includes interactive activities for building active listening skills through practice.

Addiction and Recovery

The Addiction and Recovery course provides useful information about substance use and other addictive conditions commonly found in the fire service. This program discusses the signs and symptoms of substance use and other addictive conditions as well as strategies to support those struggling with substance use and the challenges of recovery, along with information about available resources.
